^ Infinite scrolling is out of control. Why can't it act in an orderly and lawful manner?

Infinite scrolling is super annoying.

Bored. Eh, don't really want to do anything. Have a lot to do, though.

I'm not sure what your tumblr is about, but, say for instance that I have been gone for three weeks (like I usually am with LOLCats) and that I want to start with the entry where I left off - or maybe I viewed the first half dozen or so long entries, left the page to do something else, now I'm back... and have to sift through all of the entries I just read and wait for everything to load up... If you've posted frequently, this could be EXTREMELY annoying to have to cycle through.

Also say for instance that I want to review an entry you posted four months ago. It had really impressed me, but for the love of god I cannot remember enough about it for a keyword search - or for some reason everything I type into such a search does not yield the result I desired. Instead of just searching through pagination, I have to go back through ALL of those entries again.

Fortunately your site is not plagued by massive amounts of flash ads so we do not have to discuss lagging here.

And here's another infrequent, yet frequent enough problem, for SOME REASON the next batch is not loading. It's just circling.... sitting there... with a circle... loading.... loading... loading.... no "load failed, click to try again" just loading.... what do I do? I can't just press refresh. If I do, I have to go back through ALLLLLLLL of those entries again to get back to where I was. So, 9 times out of 10, I say fuck it and leave. (This happens nearly every time I'm on facebook and is one of the terrible plagues that caused me to just give up trying to become a facebook fan.)

Infinite scrolling means that the scrollbar is made useless. It doesn't indicate position anymore

Also, moving the scrollbar to the point where the 'load extra stuff' triggers means the whole page suddenly jumps and I have to scroll back to find where I was.

Maybe I'm weird, but I often recall whereabouts on a page something of interest was. This makes looking it up again quick because I can scroll to the relevant part and.. oh wait, that doesn't work with infinite scrolling.

Clicking on a link that opens in the current tab instead of a new one means I lost where I was on the infinite page when I click back.

Do you understand now why infinite scrolling is annoying?

People use the scroll bar? You dont use a combination of mouse wheel and Page Up/Page Down Home/End?

I like to use those little arrow buttons at the vertical ends of the scroll bar.

^ I think it's fun to click and hold on the bar to call the elevator. :3

I use a pen. It doesn't have a scroll wheel.
I'm learning to use the arrow/pgup/dn keys instead because of the popularity of infinite scrolling.
