This is, sadly, a fairly common occurrence in software development. Releasing it late is/was the right decision here.

It's alright. I wouldn't worry about it. Most people aren't interested in the skill calculator until they've got a fair handle on what they are trying to accomplish and have sunk into the game a bit. I don't think you're going to be missing any potential downloaders because you are a little late.
