Woke up with stomach cramps, a bloated feeling, and nausea. It more or less settled down after about two and a half hours of alternative hunched over in a bathroom and walking around in the fresh air.

Doing webdesign research and searching through local (small) flower shops to check out their site designs (do not ask, it's such a long story.... and I'm slightly pissed off... so I was already angry when I did this). Using google. The only thing I typed in was "flower shops"

... ... It's scary when you see the same basic design pop up THREE times with different names and locations.... it's just downright demeaning when you see it a fourth time WITH THE SAME GRAPHICS...

.....*stomps off* Well, that research was more than educational.... I didn't even make it off the first page of google when that popped up and I left in disgust.

1) The sites you list all appear to be members of the network of florists. Teleflora is a nation-wide flower delivery service that fulfills orders through local florists. Those sites are built from a collection of similar templates over a centralized ordering system for Teleflora that's actually hosted at web.eflorist.com.

2) "Demeaning"? I don't see how this could be demeaning to you. Unless you're using a different definition of the word than I am.

It's demeaning because the design layout isn't even very GOOD... And it's being used obviously by a LOT of sites - if I hadn't even gotten off the first page of google and that many had already appeared, but yes, I am probably more agitated than anything already.

Every few minutes, youtube is interrupted by a Netflix-ad extolling the virtues of adfree viewing.

Urge to kill rising.

But it's not. It's a bunch of tiny individual flower shops using the same services, yes, but they are not the same people. >_> To think they are using a service like that? Isn't that demeaning? I dunno. Well, whatever. I guess it's my own personal view then.

Whatever, this is all for my sister anyways, which is why I'm so agitated. She wants a website, but she wants it on the cheap and seriously for what she's wanting... a facebook page is all she needs. *rolls eyes* I don't want to put in that sort of work for the low amounts she keeps asking.

The annoying part: I have this rule about not dealing in business with friends and family. This is SO going against that rule... *sigh*

I am in a happier mood, though. ^_^ I still have to have the website discussion, but I made $50 off of an icon I created for my sister. Money transaction completed.

They're part of the same network that provides it. It's a web service. It's like complaining that vBulletin boards share the same template. Of course they do. It's the same framework. It's a pretty big network, I did a search and local businesses here also have the same thing. It's probably just the go-to provider for that business sector.

Is it sad that someone is probably getting paid to design that? I guess. I hate web design. I'd offload it for cheap to someone too. Sorry ;__;

At the end of the day, you deal with it, pretty much. Cheaper is better to a small business, especially if they don't know why it would matter. Aesthetics as an expense aren't easy to sell.
