A lot of people are ignorant of why design matters / have godawful design taste. Half my family is graphic/web designers, so I get to hear that rant a lot.

In other news, getting run over by a large car in a dream and then surviving for about two minutes with a broken head is pretty bad. I hate myself for being able to imagine a severe headache without waking up.

Imagine me: I'm super-sensitive in the small cavity of my back (you know the spot: near the end of your spine). I FREQUENTLY have dreams of getting stabbed in that area. I've woken up countless times totally paralyzed by radiating pain in that area... all because of my overactive imagination.

Aesthetics as an expense aren't easy to sell....
That hardly makes sense. -_- Don't people understand that more people will buy from them if their site is not only organized well but looks pleasing, too? It's not just about cute graphics. I mean, I would hardly call Amazon a nice "design" but you know what - it is. Everything is laid out well, the colors are pleasing, and nothing conflicts with the product images. There are no pixelated images. Well, whatever...

I wouldn't say they don't see that. The problem is how much is that worth.

A lot of people think "looking nice" is fluff and "does it work" is functionality. And functionality is worth money, but fluff is a luxury expense, you'd only do that if you've get extra money lying around, etc. Especially because these people don't actually understand advertising or psychology.

<_< I don't do business, don't study it, but I always thought it was a common sense thing.

Anyways, feeling better. We came to a mutual website agreement. I'm being paid $100 for a basic html website and layout and $15 each week when she asks for updates that I'll be in control of. The most annoying part is figuring how to configure the Paypal API on the site which after doing some brief research isn't going to be too difficult.

^_^ So, it came out alright in the end... I think.

Also: T-T Mom's back in the hospital. I guess there were some clots that blocked up the stints. They had to re-cath her and fix things and they are putting her on a stronger blood thinner. They are probably keeping her until Monday again. No Easter for us, I guess. I don't care. I just want my mom to get better. Please say some prayers for us, guys.

The mods aren't doing to well, I guess.

LOL Ex! Thanks for sharing that beautiful BEAUTIFUL website. I have no clue and probably no interest in this game, but I'm loving the site so much that I'm going to check it out in detail tomorrow. This is EXACTLY the sort of thing I'm talking about. ^_^

I do not speak the language. I only know that it's a female that does the designing. This design isn't even her best one. I much preferred the design she had up for Phantom Hourglass. Her forums and her gallery are also GORGEOUS. I drool over her work. (I like that, like me, a lot of people complain that she has overly large topmasts. :3 I dunno... for some reason I just prefer that style)

XD I will never be on par with these people. I'm just not that talented. I know my place. I'm nowhere near creative enough. Instead to offset my lack of skill, I keep my designs simple, clean, and organized. I LOVE using artwork that's been provided for me to let the design sort of speak for itself. My websites will never be phenomenal and sometimes it shocks me that people like them as well as they do. ^_^ I just strive for them to be presentable. It doesn't take a lot to have a nice design.

I think that's what makes things even more degrading. Those flower store designs - the service that provided those templates... how could they MAKE those templates? To me they had to strive to even make them LOOK that awful.

@Cotton: Thanks. I'm having a sleepless night. x_x I'm just so worried and now my tummy is hurting. I fell asleep once and ended up with a nightmare. *sigh* I'm going to be a wreck tomorrow... I'm not ready to watch my mom go through this sort of thing. I'VE GOT AT LEAST ANOTHER 10 YEARS! >_<

Rant of the day (not a big one): because of finals I tend to double my daily portions and eat whatever I find in the fridge. Studying always drains a huge amount of energy in my case...

I keep doing this thing whereby I go to bed really late because I fall asleep out of bed pretty early.
