Why do people around here pronounce Chipotle as "Chi-poll-tay". Fucking drives me nuts. Is this just a midwestern thing, then, or what? Had to get that off my chest.

Although the general word refers to a , occurrences of the word around me usually refer to the named after the pepper.

What IS the correct pronunciation? When I first saw the word on our menu eight years ago I was like chi-pottl?

... most customers just skip the bs and call it "spicy barbeque sauce".
