You guys want to see something funny? Go to the google translator and type in: 世界樹の迷宮 to see what you get.
Here's a hint, you will either get "Etrian Odyssey" or just plain "Etrian" (for some unknown reason).
Want to know why that's funny? Can't figure it out by yourself?
世界樹の迷宮 properly translates out to "Yggdrasil Labyrinth" "Labyrinth of Yggdrasil" "World Tree Labyrinth" or "Labyrinth of World Tree". Something around those lines. I think babelfish puts in "worldwide" but the effect is the same, you know.
I've entered in my own suggestion to attempt to fix this prime example of all that is wrong with google translations. I want to fucking know who the hell actually suggested that 世界樹の迷宮 be "Etrian Odyssey".
I remember my first semester of Journalism. We were talking about the spread of the media, how it was going mostly online, and what the future looked to hold.
Then he popped in this semi-humorous/dead-serious video that a student had put together a year before. It talked about Google taking over the information world. At first it started off as a humorous idea but as the video talked about it - the situations were so fucking realistic and PLAUSIBLE it was scary.
It talked about such situations as it taking over amazon.com, then subsequently taking over web-hosting, then it talked about it taking over and consuming media industries and employing a Wikipedia-like effect where it wasn't the media reporting as much as it was people capable of posting their own news and editing and creating their own stories on articles.
It was a really wild video o_O;
And the funny part of it was, not but two weeks after us watching that, google announced its buying of youtube. ^_^; I remember walking in class that day. The first thing my teacher shouted out to the class was "The Google invasion has begun!"
God I miss that class -_-
