A part of the reason why I eat alone has nothing to do with solidarity and everything to do with noise.
Typically people's idea of dining together in home involves a television set. A television set that is blaringly loud and probably has some stupid celebrity news or another shitty sitcom running. The volume of the set compels people to speak louder, and then something of interest shows up on the screen so someone wants to turn it up even more.
I am very sensitive to sound... both in loudness and the noise produced by a lot electronics such as lights and displays. I don't think wanting to eat somewhere quieter is "being a bitch" at all. When I was with my previous lover I remember we could just sit together by a candlelight. ( 〞_ 〝)

It's not like that there? Here it seems pretty standard for any occasion that takes place within someone's home. Even some restaurants. >~<

We rarely do that in my house, but whenever I'm with a friend we usually eat while watching a movie. I imagine I'll do it more in september when I move out, too.

I don't like to eat in front of the TV. I used to. I grew up doing that and my roommate prefers to do so, so I go along with it, but when I'm on my own I like to focus on my meal. I enjoy it more and eat less. And if I'm eating with someone else I like to focus on the conversation that should be happening.

I find it comforting to be honest, although it might be the tinnitus.
I used to eat in front of the TV, but now I feel like I'll get too engrossed in one thing to do the other. Then again, I usually eat in front of the computer, and when I eat at the table, I get a bit too hasty and sometimes just walk around before sitting down again.

Dinner at the TV was a rarity in our family. Dinner always meant TV→off. Besides, you wouldn't be able to see much from the dinner table anyway. And there'd rarely be anything worth watching on before dinner time either.

^ Yes.

Let us know if we can help, okay? Even if it's just by internet-hanging-out.
