I don't think anyone interpreted what you said as having anything to do with beating the kids to get them to listen. Just that there isn't much to be done punishment-wise, because really what could be worse than what the kid's already experiencing?

And... the police probably already know and/or don't have the resources to do anything at this point. So it's a sound suggestion on paper, but not as realistic as we'd like it to be.

How do you know they aren't understaffed or corrupt or both? Don't you think if it were that easy they'd have fixed it all by now?

And of course educating children makes a difference! How else will they learn that there is another way to live?

There's the little issue of prison space. And the issue of actually getting the charges to stick. As you kindly pointed out in another thread, people have been wrongly arrested before.

I have millions of dollars lying around for building new prisons, sure! And clearly the threat of jail time has stopped crime in its tracks up to this point... Which is why we need more prisons to hold more criminals?

^ Yeah, the United States have a really small prison-population. You've already tried that, so maybe it's time you tried imprisoning more people, like the rest of the world. Seems to work for many of us.

Might just be me, but shouldn't this sorta thing go in debate and serious topics?
