So, the tl;dr part: Nose bleed + high blood pressure = the most embarrassing day of my life that almost kept me in the hospital for several days. My blood pressure was so high that it wasn't registering on the machines. I now have some new meds (one of which I was suppose to be taking until college demanded I pay for classes out of pocket - it and my gym membership were cut out of the budget - I was waiting for my health insurance to kick in so I could go to the doctors for my high blood pressure meds and inhalers).

Ok, so you want the full story?

It is what it is. I'll pay $10 a month. Health is not something that damages credit. As long as you're paying SOMETHING the nurse said, don't even fret about it. There are a million other worse worries in the world.

Fuggin >_< I go to CVS and they want to charge me $50+ for my drugs. I'm like.... "uh... no. Let me price check first." Walmart: $17.

Ugg, and I don't know if it's because of my new blood pressure or just everything I went through but I am SO sore and weak tonight. -_-; So taking it easy.

yo maxine im glad you're alive, and i don't want to seem like im trivializing the incident, but like, your blood pressure was so high blood was shooting out of your eyes, and that is the most metal thing I have ever read.

It wasn't "shooting" out of my eye. Just leaking like tears. Your sinus passages go all through your head and you have some that end in your eyes as well (ever blow a stuffed nose and feel like you just popped your eye a little). What was happening was a simple bloody nose but because of my super high blood pressure, it was gushing - it was only one nostril bleeding but there was SO MUCH blood that it went through both nasal cavities and then when I started attempting to pinch it off - it had no where to go... so it got backed up and found an escape route in my right eye. It was the only eye leaking blood and it was just tears.

I'm not going to lie. It was scary as hell.
Yeah. I filled out my prescriptions and I'm going to get this taken care of. My blood pressure has never been THAT significantly high and the doctor told me that it has started to enlarge my heart.

I know a wake up call from God when I receive it. Enough heart issues run through my family. Time for me to start taking care of myself again. Once I get use to the medicine I'm also going to start returning to the gym.

Wow, that must've been pretty scary after all. I'm glad you're okay now. And I hope that your work insurance takes care of the costs (with so many boss people being there it has to, right?).

I dunno. It was Oct 15. We'll see if my insurance when it starts Nov. 1st if it will pick up the retroactive cost. I doubt it. Most don't and our insurance is pretty cheap. It is what it is. I'm not going to stress. Paying some money out of good faith is better than none at all and with a new car payment I'm not going to seriously stretch myself.

My bosses are sweet, though, so I'm hoping that in terms of the days counting against me that they will be waived. ^_^ Especially when we just had a new attendance policy instated. *sigh* -_-;

Isn't emergency care free in the US? I always thought it was.

So it's free? Or is it because you have some money that's deemed as ability to pay?

Nope. What it means is that: "Even if you cannot pay we CAN NOT turn you away". You will be billed but this is why homeless people and others can spend nights in the ER. They are skipping out on their bills - not that they aren't receiving them.

So what happens if you don't pay? Surely if you can't afford the bill after the medical attention has been administered they can't do anything about it?
