And this is half the reason I think the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act is a good idea. Well, that or switching to socialized medicine. I'm really not picky on the subject.

One of my coworkers from Ontario said the only strange thing about moving to the US is that suddenly you have to give monthly payments to some company just to be able to go get pills he could get cheaply or for free before.
socialized medicine is better if the government is making sure it's the same standard of treatment as you'd get through private insurance. from what I understand the UK does a decent job of that.
in ireland everyone was happy paying a bit higher taxes as they think the government should always be able to take care of its people.

Imagine a world where book 6 of Harry Potter came out and you didn't like it as much but you still want to stick with the series. Then one day you find out they're killing off Harry Potter and book 7 is called "Neville Longbottom and the Deathly Hollows".
That is how I feel. After 2 years of the DC universe reboot, I stuck with the new Superboy series even though it took until now to get good again. Now they're killing him off. Superboy was is my favorite superhero and he is what got me into comic books over 10 years ago.
Bleh.

Actually, I'd personally like to hear read the 7th book from Neville's perspective. It sounds like he was pretty fucking epic that year.
But yeah, that sucks. =/

Edit: I forgot to mention that they're replacing him with another clone of Superman, that's where the Neville bit came from.

I was dissapointed by the New 52 version when he was introduced, but since every hero got the same treatment it was different. This could turn out ok, I guess. Not sure if I'd prefer them to keep him dead like last time they killed him off or just replace him. Death in comics means they come back but replacement means they won't typically.
This isn't the end of the world, it's just something with sentimental value to me.

So this past week after my stint in the hospital I have felt AWFUL. So awful I'm beginning to suspect my drugs. I slept in this morning, haven't taken my drugs and I feel GOOD (despite knowing my blood pressure is prolly back up). I mean, I've not even had the drive to get on my computer and write! I've had the ambition and the desire but the idea of being on a computer and typing - forget it. Too much work. The same with typing on these forums.
So I'm feeling good - I'm typing. I'm energetic. Caught up on sleep. If I take my pills and start feeling crappy again I will know it's definitely the pills and not me still just recovering for my episode. If it IS my pills, I'm only going to take the one that I was on before that I KNOW doesn't do this to me. The other two they have me on I will wait until my insurance has kicked in Nov (just a few weeks away) and discuss the situation with my doctor. I'll watch my blood pressure carefully but there is NO WAY I'm taking those pills and feeling that shitty. You guys know me: I LIVE on my computer. MY JOB IS ME ON A COMPUTER! The idea of lifting my hands to type and being too weak to do so: I'd rather be dead. Forget it. I'm not living like that. I'll just wait to see a doctor and let him play around with the meds. These may just not be the right ones for me.
So - wish me luck today. Here's hoping it's not the pills~
(Even being on my DS has been an experience. This is how I am on my DS normally playing EOU:
.
I've not been that. It's been an effort holding my DS and several times I've died by running into sleeping FOEs. I took down a boss last night and I swear the fight would have been so much easier if my mind had been in the experience.)

I understand that you want and need to stay on your computer, but take care and don't overdo it *hugs*

^_^ I took my pills around 11:30. It's 1pm and I've actually gotten a little work done on my story. I'm still feeling VERY good. So I'm happy and confident that I was just overly tired from this past week's episode.

The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train conductors are on strike again. I totally side with the union, but its still a little frustrating to rely on the bus to get long distances. Took me an hour and a half to go one way from Oakland to Berkeley yesterday. It will be interesting to see if any of my students fail to make it to school tomorrow because of the strike. Also, I know at least 3 or 4 teachers at the middle school level who rely on BART to get to work. Irritating, especially when you work in an area where walking is dangerous.
I really feel for the folks who work in the West Bay and live in the East Bay. Thats gotta suck. Its annoying to rely on a transit system that you can't rely on to function because they aren't being paid well enough.
