Actually, people horrify me.
I desperately need to get some new music CDs for my car, but in the mean time I'm using the radio sometimes. I like listening to NPR because they sometimes play classical, and my radio's a bit shit and only gets NPR, 1 classic rock station, and like 15 bajillion christian and country music stations. ANYWAY.
The program in some political-talk call-in show and it is about the health care bill and specifically protests. They want to compare the current political division with past events in American history. There's the guy who calls talking about Vietnam, and then a lady calls and compares this to the Civil War (wtf).
Then she says, "I just thank God that the conservatives are the ones upholding the second amendment in case the economy cracks under the strain of this socialist ideology."
I had to turn the radio off I felt so angry and offended, deep in my gut, that there are people out there so ignorant and close-minded that the idea of equal health coverage and basic fucking human rights is therefore SOCIALIST and FUCK! even that SOCIALIST = EVIL. DAMN YOU JOSEPH MCCARTHY.
There is nothing wrong with socialism. Look at fucking Europe. Look at the Human Rights Index which consistently ranks socialist governments in the top ten.
And my own political leanings aside, regardless of the caller's political views ---
really!? REALLY?! You feel so fucking threatened that you would contemplate the necessity to own FUCKING GUNS because you are SCARED? BITCH. I'm fucking terrified of the entirety of humanity but I'm not going to climb the clock tower and open fire!
