People complain too much at my job. Like, I'll be the first to admit that the calls and the customers can get on your nerves (badly) but seriously I sit back and think, as I'm sipping on a soda with my shoes kicked off, damn what a good job it is. ~ I hate people that complain about it. After the years spent busting my ass off with a broom and a mop and having people scream at me about hamburgers... at least when they are screaming at me now it's about half way important things (yes, yes, Mr. Customer, if you go a month without pay for your domain you're going to lose it) *sigh*

^_^ And I've got kitty pics all over my cubical wall! They make me happy when dealing with a bad customer.

Seriously, though, the pay is good, it's not perfect, but believe me it could be so much worse. Why the hell are you complaining?

I've been around folks like that in some of the bookstores where I've worked. Sure, the pay at bookstores is rubbish, but the job itself is actually really enjoyable if you allow it to be. It's a lot of work and it takes more than half a brain for sure and plenty of patience, but every time I'm tempted to resent my job I just remember worse jobs I've had or jobs I've never had to take that are way way worse. It's so easy for people to forget those things, though. Maybe they've never had to have shitty jobs, or it just doesn't occur to them how cushy they've really got it. Plus, it seems to be in human nature to just complain, you know?

I've had the opportunity to bring stuff up like this to some of my coworkers when the job was getting them down, and it really seemed to cheer them up. I usually give them some variation of this: "Could be way worse. We could be working the night shift at a gas station with strung-out alcoholics raging at us to sell them a six-pack of beer after the legal cutoff time. Or we could be scrubbing toilets or working in construction... I feel lucky because at least most of our customers are literate and here to spend leisure time browsing for stuff they want instead of stuff they really need (outside of textbooks and required reading for schools)." If you modulate your tone so as not to sound preachy, it usually gets a favorable response. I usually get an "Oh, that's true!" followed by a contemplative "Hmmm..." and if not a smile at least no longer a frown.

Oh dear LOL you had to mention the toilets. I have heard SO many complaints about our bathrooms and it boggles my mind. O_O the bathrooms are pristine and kept so clean. There's some old stains here and there in between the tiles and I think that's what people nitpick about and occasionally some moron doesn't flush or the third toilet stall the commode has a tendency for the handle to break but it's usually fixed within the last time of being in there and the next time.

<_< Coming from McDonald's where people graffiti'd on the walls, old people missed the toilets and then mom's would carelessly throw disgusting diapers into the trash (once even in the toilet and backed it up) and the countless times I've had to clean up puke... I've literally turned around to some of those complainers and told them to shut up and that they didn't know what they were talking about. The bathroom is old but it's kept clean. There's a HUGE difference between one and the other.

I hate when I get all mopey and bent out of shape about a girl. It's such bullshit.

The majority of the members in a group designed for women against feminism in gaming are men.

Hmm, I wonder. ◔ᴗ◔

A lot of women don't know what feminism is about.

And I don't blame them. We spend half of our time fighting amongst ourselves.

Can I talk about something here? It is both really funny and in a way awful to deal with at the same time.

Lately I have had guys on Facebook that I don't know either adding me or messaging me outright. You know, I commend people who are so bold as to speak to or befriend strangers. But these guys are trying to get 2close2fast. And they're legit, too. Not bots. These are genuine people. In this world somewhere.

You know, it's not like I have a pretty face or anything, either. No provocative photos... I always dress conservatively.

._. Why.........

Edit -
I don't know how much more my lungs can take.

I recall getting messages like that when I had my brief stint on a certain dating website. I have also had one or two randoms on Facebook. I get the sense that these are desperate fellows trying to cast a wide net in terms of just messaging anyone and everyone to see if anyone will respond. Sometimes the conversations end up being simultaneously sad and funny.

^ One guy was rather enthusiastic about my boots. Not that he had much to say, but gotta keep the conversation going somehow.
