Re. Other People:
I don't love or hate people. I don't even like or dislike people, most of the time. Defaulting to overly positive views of people seems naive, but thinking the worst of everyone isn't all that productive. My outward appearance and treatment of others doesn't derive as much from how I feel about them as it does from pragmatism and a desire to keep life moving along. I offer a mild, professional politeness to most strangers, essentially. As for friends, at my core I can't really say I have any truly close ones, although there are several people in my life I think would be upset to hear that. I don't have problems making friends, but whenever I think about my relationships with other people, I realize how detached I am. Having a somewhat clinical view of the world, I can't really bring myself to feel strongly about anyone or anything. Mind you, I find the world quite fascinating, I just tend not to feel things about it. I clearly experience emotions, but not with remotely the same intensity that "normal" people do, it seems, especially when it comes to feelings about other people.
Re. Lost Bookmarks:
Do you use any cloud syncing services that you might be able to retrieve more recent bookmark collections from? That's saved my bacon more than once.
Re. Car Wash Codes:
One week is unreasonably short notice. I don't know how these voucher codes work at your particular store, but there generally is some period of validity for these things that you need to honour, and if the new system does not accept codes from the old system then you need to refund the customer or provide a replacement code. Assuming the store had planned the system upgrade or at least was informed about it by higher up (if there is a higher up) some sane amount of time beforehand, then customers buying voucher codes should have been warned about the impending backwards-incompatible upgrade starting from whenever the upgrade date was finalized and made known to staff, so the customers or whomever they purchased the voucher code for wouldn't be caught in this situation. If your store had been warning people at point of sale and they still purchased the codes and then failed to redeem them before the change, then that's their problem. But if you only started warning them under a week ago and they bought these voucher codes over a week ago, then they're right to be angry.

ZOMG, I remembered that I emailed them to myself about a year ago. A little out of date, but far better than 2008 or whenever it was.
No I didn't use a cloud backup, however, I do now
.
Car wash? I hate car washes, they scare me. Well, the machines do. The poor Polish people up the road who do it for like £5 by hand are awesome.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having trouble with that... :(
Would having a job other than Walmart help with this? Or is that too hard to find right now?

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: u mad?
(Catholic upbringing is about to show) When I was young my mom told us to say the Hail Mary over and over again in our heads until we fell asleep. I still do that sometimes now. I also had a silly storyline for my action figures when I was like 10 which I can still go over in my head, that usually puts me out.
I rarely have issues sleeping, but repetitive, non-stressful, thinking seems to do the trick.

I need to keep my brain busy, or I never sleep. I can stay up the whole night just thinking otherwise. Music or relaxing YouTube videos usually do the trick for me. (Some of the less weird ASMR stuff or beach noises works awesome.)
Thia isn't great when you depend on this to fall asleep and have to be unplugged for some reason, though.

^ When I can't sleep, I lie down and rest my eyes. All the folkremedies are counterintuitive. Getting up is like the opposite of sleeping.

Now who can argue with that? I think we're all indebt to PLA for stating what needed to be said. I am particulary glad that these lovely children are here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic PLA gibberish, it expressed the courage little seen in this day and age

Avoid the internet and screens for a good 30 mins before sleeping, read first for a bit and make sure that there's some form of noise - a fan, nature music etc. That should help.
I've heard that exercise several hours before hand helps too.

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: u mad?
That sounded a bit harsh, Zamisk. PLA's posts often have a unique cryptic quality, but calling it 'gibberish' is a little too much. I kinda like his style.
I think PLA's first advice is pretty sound. If you can't sleep, just accept that fact and instead lie down and rest your eyes.

It's a quote from Blazing Saddles, didn't mean for it to sound harsh. PLA is my favorite.

What I really like here is that people feel fine to call the mods out for things. Not that zamisk did anything wrong, or Kimiko for that matter. It's just really nice that it's a real community rather than this entire hierarchy thing.
