Ha ha. The sad part is I'm kind of with them on this one. Unfortunately it gets me pigeonholed into being that gay friend which makes trendy girls cooler. Even though I'm actually bi. ¬ ¬ And being bi has nothing to do with my character.

Fucking state inspections.

Virginia requires an annual state inspection sticker for your vehicle. They privatized the system, so we took ours to a station for inspection.

Mine needed headlight adjustment, okay, fine, what-the-fuck-ever that's just $18. Also needed a "brake hose" because the current one was cracked. That's $180. Alright, it won't pass inspection otherwise, fine. Then they get the tires off and discover, oh, your front brake pads need replaced. We knew they needed done this year, but they wouldn't let the car pass inspection otherwise. Fine, whatever.

Then Mr Kino's car fails, and fails spectacularly. All together, over $700 to get it working again. That's more than the car is worth! Two of the parts I can't even understand what the fuck they are or what they do, and the other major part is the driver's side window, which broke this morning. You can roll it down, but it only rolls back up with extreme difficulty. Apparently, it's $325 for a new window regulator. !!!

Well, then we're like, fuck it. He'll just drive it with Oklahoma plates until those expire. But the brake lights aren't working. And they don't know why. And it is $94 an hour in labor for them to look and see why. We give them one hour to search, and further searching would require removing the seats and carpet.

We're like, no, fuck that, just give us the car back.

So now Mr Kino's car is un-drivable in the state of Virginia, and we need to buy him a new one. Our finances are already wrecked to hell from the move, and with the cost of living here being as high as it is, we're not sure about our future finances either.
