@my failed class combo ideas due to weapon restraints: damn. Oh well, there goes that idea.

Does petrify count as a instant kill attack? Or is it just counted as a regular attack?

@ Eharper: Yeah, im just constantly tweaking what I see my guild starting with, from whos it in, to their skills, and so on and so forth. The Etrian series is one of the few games that has gotten me to wrap my mind around it so much that I'm always thinking how I could change one little thing or one characters little story.

How do you guys get the tp Regen?

I suppose it's more of an "in-general" thing and not really you here. Every single time someone (here) asks for help, there's always ALWAYS a corollary of "SCY CARES ONLY OF AWESOME IGNORE WHAT HE SAID" bullshit and it irritates me. Especially when it's, typically, followed up with sub-standard advice and/or just being flat-out wrong. Especially when the original plea is just a, "here's what I have what do I do?" type question. What I say and what you say is no less "correct" for them. I don't sit here responding to people wanting help with "Ignore what they suggested, they're stupid / they're RPing / whatever"

Apparently I missed the "only suggest RP things" clause somewhere.

@Braveheart: I keep forgetting that the Farmer does indeed have a TP regen ability. That said, I'm not sure it's worth pretty much forgoing all pertinent sub-class options to nab it and ... what, Gather utility? Lullaby? Depends really on the main class, I suppose.

[spoiler]See, I play Magic semi-competitively and there's all sorts of "fun" combo potential in Type II / Standard / Two most recent years of cards. Infinite turns, infinite spell cloning, infinite mana (incidentally, the last two are the same). Massive land advantage + Creatures that do cool shit with land. There's a lot of room for creativity.

The problem? To access most of these, you have to forgo things that work and _work better_ 99% of the time. Sure, there's that rare time you get the nuts draw and infinite turn loop as early as possible and the opponent can just sit and watch. But the rare occasion does not justify it's use. Especially when you lose every match up 75-90% of the time normally (or practically 100%, why do people play Fog whatever).

So ... what's the point? Think of the specific instances where the combo is actually helpful. Where it actually benefits you. How limited is the scope? What does it require the opposition to do (or not to do)? What do you do when your plan fails? Do you need your combo to win? If the answer to those isn't favorable, is it still worth doing that "fun" combo? Especially when it won't win?

Of course, that's, mostly, in a competitive environment. There's still casual play. Still, you should evaluate things the same way. What's "more likely to do it's cool thing?" and "what's more awesome?" kind of questions. You should always be evaluating your decision. Don't just slam down "COOL IDEA" and run with it without evaluating it and other options.

I view EO3 sub-classing the same way and, honestly, I think most people should. Barring completely 100% flavor decisions (just really wanted that Zodiac/Phalanx* who the fuck knows), anyway. Think of your sub-classing decisions beyond the realm of "what's cool" and instead think of "what is cool, works, and is actually capable of being done."

*Shut up, I contemplated trying it merely for the Spear and potentially Long Stride. 'Settled' for a Crossbow and all-target Blind of never-fucking-casted-anymore-thanks-Meteor-and-bosses-finally-resisting-Blind.[/spoiler]

wATK is independent of class, however. My best target is my Shogun with his 180 wATK weapons, though I guess the 186 wATK Hammer is the best target I can hit still (if I had anyone to use it, mind you); that said, my Princess has a 175 wATK Sword as is so she's not a terrible target for Emit and using her lets me do it for free (Emit Level 6) or for 4 TP (Emit Level 10).

Might need to check if it's a STR or TEC damage function too, though I'm going to guess it's just a 190% all-target elemental "attack" from the one targeted by Emit Weapon. Arguably makes my Zodiac/Ballista the best choice (171 wATK, 125% Elemental Damage, 150% Weakness Damage) to be Emitting.

Not that any random encounter needs it and I have better things to do with my time/buff slots on FoE/Bosses. Meh. Disappointing.
