Starting party (no particular target build in mind, I'm going by portraits and stories, not by numbers):
Guild: CAKE
Eleanor - Princess, portrait #2
Roshi - Monk, portrait #3
Teru - Ninja, portrait #1
Zii - Zodiac, portrait #4
Mila - Arbalist, portrait #4

Hmmm, I could do that, and then my Ninja's shadow would pop into the front row instead of the back.
However, I need my damage tank up front so the Prince isn't the highest-HP having fool in the front.
Does anyone have the max damages for the three spear attacks?

The Monk should be able to survive up front.

Are there any reasons not to subclass? I'm sure the system will make more sense when I unlock it, but I've been thinking about definitely subclassing the Monk and possibly the Prince (or subclassing the Prince as a Monk and dropping the Monk entirely) Monk/Hoplite seems like a good combo; shield equip and ability to strike from the backrow...

I have;
Gladiator, Prince
Monk, Arablist, Wilding
When I can subclass, though, I think I will go;
Gladiator/Yggdroid, Prince/Hoplite
?/?, Zodiac/?, Wilding/Hoplite
The Prince/Hoplite combo will be for the healing skills and buffs, and the Wilding/Hoplite will be for the spear skills. I like my monk because the prince can't heal enough to keep me alive until he is higher lvled, so for now he is buffing and my monk is healing.
I want my gladiator to subclass as a yggdroid because in my story, the arablist's gun misfires, blowing the gladiator's left leg and left hand off, ect.
Blaaaaah 1st boss rantage; [hide]I followed the 1st boss around for upwards of 15 minutes until I figured out how to corner him. I shall say no more.[/hide]

Subclasses don't affect stats. They don't directly affect equipable equipment either (but the masteries do).

As far as [hide]equipment goes, sub-classing only adds Weapons if you train the Weapon skill for it. You do not gain their Armor options.[/hide]
