I'm not sure exactly what triggers it but when I was fighting him he did his [hide]separation[/hide] thing and then I killed his [hide]head[/hide]. After another round or so the [hide]body self-detonated[/hide]. It almost wiped my entire team but my ninja managed to dodge and survive. Anyways, I think it gave a warning before doing it though so just something to watch out for.

[hide]Gatekeeper[/hide] has a set rotation:
[hide]Turn 1: Souha Stance
Turn 2: Tenchi Souha Sho
Turn 3: Disperse
Turn 4 - 7: Random
Turn 8: Focus
Turn 9: Repeat[/hide]
Edit: Flubbed it majorly. Double checked in-game~
As for his [hide]self-destruct[/hide], it happens if you kill [hide]one of the two parts[/hide].
Edit: Double-checked this too; it's Malfunction -> Critical Break so you get a one-turn reprieve before suicide bombing happens.
As for handling Tenchi Souha Sho, he'll always use it the turn after Souha Stance. However, you _can_ Sleep, Paralyze, Confuse, etc. him so he misses that turn. He'll just go to his next step after that.
And, yes, Tenchi Souha Sho is Bash-elemental. Yes, it makes no goddamn sense.

I got pretty mad when battling b8f's [hide]Abyssal Death[/hide] I employed the usual "boss/FOE" tactic of the Hoplite bodyguarding the Princess, and the Ninja doing Kagerou just to be sure.
After something like 6 turns in a row where the skome image would be destroyed in one hit and I was wasting the Hoplite TPs with bodyguard, I say "Hey, maybe Kagerou is enough, let's try stopping bodyguarding..."
And of course the very next turn it smashes the Princess. Son of a bitch.
Second wind limit works like a charm in those cases though.

Even more post-game boss spoilers!
[spoiler]And after a ferocious battle, the icy blue Drake falls before Wolken's sword. He pulls the sword out from the Drake's flesh, dark crimson dripping from it's edge. He simply stares at the dead creature and suddenly a wicked grimace was stretched across Wolken's face. His maniacal laughter filled the entire labyrinth.
***
So the Dragonbane has a lot of empty Forge slots. A LOT. That is fucking awesome. Problem is, there's going to be plenty of dragon slaying to get all those slots filled =(
But it'll be worth it! With a fully forged Dragonbane, my Shogun will reign supreme![/spoiler]

Gah, I just discovered that Rally order alone is worthless, since it prevents Royal Veil from happening! I didn't think about that...
I guess I'll wait to take Protect order before I can use it (or use a lot of medicas in combo)... sigh
Also, I hate when I forget to reset the Limit skill after switching the parties, and then I enter a fight with a FOE. Damn me.

Good news: I finally have a strategy to take down the [hide]Dragon[/hide]:
[spoiler]Equip my Wildling/Hoplite with a Sonic Dagger so she actually moves before the Dragon and my Monk/Princess can start with Protect Order right away. On the turns I don't have to refresh Protect Order, I just use Refresh. My front line is equipped with Crush Amulets, so even without Line Guard they still have a net gain of HP, even my Shogun. The one thing that bothers me about my Shogun is that when the Dragon uses its single Curse attack, he's left with hardly any HP, and is cursed. So when he acts, he'll generally lose all of his HP. I was thinking about equipping a Velocity Choker on my Monk so she'll be able to go before the Shogun attacks(?), but whatever. Nectar II's are easy to use. My Wildling stays in the back using Line Guard, and I've equipped she and my Monk with paralysis resist items, since it would be bad if they couldn't act. My Arbalist/Shogun just spams Warrior Might.
tl;dr
It doesn't 1HKO me.[/spoiler]
