EOIII Rantage!

Kind of sad to see that Anti/Prophecy/Bots are relegated to gimmicks.
Really, if you want to get technical, you can forgo all that and just use Limits with Swashbuckling + Limit Boost to deal with them as well. 2x Crush Amulet + 1x Slice/Pierce Amulet + Cut/Stab Mist (varies based on Dragon; Wyrm and Dragon use Bash and Cut, Drake uses Bash and Stab) nulls all their physical damage and you're left with just handling their breaths on turns 1/5/10/etc, which is more than enough time to re-build meter with Swashbuckling + Limit Boost (with or without Limit forges).
As for the rest of the post-game bosses, [hide]Kraken[/hide] is shut down via Leg Binds and doesn't even resist them initially, [hide]Anemone[/hide] is purely Bash damage, and [hide]Alraune[/hide] is the only one with an actual varied skillset but is relatively paper thin so can get burned down before it does anything dangerous. [hide]Abyssal God[/hide] and [hide]Elder Dragon[/hide] are the only encounters that truly "force" anything and they still have multiple options for dealing with them, though all complaints about [hide]Abyssal God[/hide] being a douche and dumb-fuck design are well founded regardless of how you tackle it (hint: "LOLZ RANDOM" on an encounter designed around being scripted is kind of stupid).
I never really got the complaints of "YOU MUST USE PRECISELY THIS" for EO. It's never really been true for any single one of the games. There's been a path of least resistance in them all, yes, but most parties can do it with some preparation, though some take far more than others (i.e., EO1 without Immunize, Defender, or Antis). This is true for basically most games, though; EO (and SMT) just differs in actually letting attacks be capable of killing you outright where many other games are fine with just doing massive damage (or letting you just grossly overpower the enemies, though that is possible for SMT ... and EO, now that I think about it).
You can, if you wish, knock all the damage taken from "completely fatal" to merely "near fatal" and fully heal every single turn (though the prep for Dragon would probably require buffing and thus allow for instant death to become a factor). It's not like you HAVE to go the route that completely mitigates the damage. Those are just the suggested easier routes. Besides, it's hard to believe that out of 10 possible character slots that you're not using one of the _three_ options out of _twelve_. Assuming no repeated classes, it's _impossible to not be able to handle it_.
[spoiler]<rant>Seriously, I hate the whole "I WILL NOT DO THINGS THAT OTHER PEOPLE THOUGHT UP" crowd. What, because someone else realized that _not getting hurt_ is better than _getting hurt_ that it invalidates the option entirely? That you didn't do it through your own unique fucking method? That your imposed dumb-fucking-restrictions making things difficult is some imaginary fault of the game?
I don't really comprehend this. I don't see people bitching _at the game design_ that Level 1/LLCs, No Equipment, No Skills, etc. challenges are hard. Why the fuck is it valid for when people try to do things without taking into account things that can help them?
I perfectly understand not wanting to, say, go the Tagen Battou route. Or Warrior's Might route. They end the fights quickly (and, in Tagen Battou's case, is really gimmicky and kind of lame imo~) and are forced party structures. But to basically go "I will do this without using _anything_ that would help me" and then bitch that it's hard? Seriously? Fuck off.</rant>
And this isn't directed at anyone here. More of a general "what the fuck people?" over the course of three games.
*Yes, I realize the irony.
...maybe I should've just posted a dealwithit.gif and :lols[/spoiler]
This reminds me I still want to do that all Farmer run just to shut people the fuck up at "OMG THIS IS SO HARD."

odear, me being me. I wonder why I try to help anyone on these boards anymore when the response is either A) People not reading or B) Ignore what I say.
Incidentally, if you had actually posted your party there could've been a response that wasn't "well, using X makes it easier." I even tried to cover basically every possible scenario for the dragons (and just listed the basics on the others).
Edit: And, seriously, what do people want out of the EO post-game? For all the complaints of how "rigid" the post-game is, I've never once seen someone actually propose something better that still retains some semblance of challenge.
[spoiler]On top of that, seriously ... it's an RPG. A classic dungeon-crawling RPG. It's kind of built around the notion of having a balanced party. Y'know, tank healer DPS support + something. That's the entire game system it's trying to mimic (or nostalgia all over, depending on how you want to take it).[/spoiler]

Boohoo. I wasn't asking you for advice on how to handle the dragons. I already knew that. I was only stating that I don't want to change my party's build. The build I have has sufficed for five strata/bosses already. If there was no level cap and no ridiculously-overpowered-OHKO-unless-nullified attacks, this party and build could handle the post-game just as well. Challenging IMO means having to deal with all the random encounters, grinding a little now and then so you can explore further, unlocking new equipment. You know, just what the rest of the game was like. These post-game bosses are not challenging. They're either impossible, or easy, with nothing in between.
For info, my party:
[spoiler]Front:
Barbara - Pirate/Arbalist - Trickster 6, Rapier Mastery ★, Gun Mastery ★, Swashbuckling 8, Lady Luck 6, Limit Boost 3, Lights Out 3, Hanging 3, Pincushion 6, Eagle Eye 3, Bolt Mastery 1, Proper Form 3, Heavy Shot 5, Front Mortar 1, Pop Flares 1, Smoke Grenade 1, HP Up 5, TP Up 2

Everyone's hit the level 70 cap.
Yes, there are a few points I could reallocate because I don't use the skills (most of Barbara's Arbalist skills, Raesh's Zodiac skills (although I was intending to start using the Stars later on), and Rena's Bandage was obsoleted by Monarch March), but that wouldn't change much really.[/spoiler]

Hopefully not walking into the line of fire here, but you could say, for example, that part of the challenge for these bosses would be discovering what the best combination is, and that looking up these "best combo to beat X" is more or less the same as looking up Stratum maps rather than exploring them yourself.
Except the "RNG screws you over when it feels like it" bosses, who are just plain bitches.

In case of implosion, look directly at implosion.

oh, trust me. I have no problem getting my hands on stat+ books. I had plenty of formaldehyde saved up for the occasion
Maxed out 2 characters, including my new lv. 72 Shinobi/Warrior (which I raised to level 99 yesterday) and proceeded to test out her newfound strength by giving [hide]Leviathan[/hide] a nice OHKO for 29,000 damage XD

Ok, haven't played this game in a long time. Re-re-starting this bitch, and this time I'm going to actually finish. Unlike the other two times where I made it to the end of stratum 3-ish and had to drop it due to time constraints. I'll get as far as I can this weekend, beat OoT a couple times when it comes out, and then continue and beat it yeeaaaaah.
But seriously, I really need to finish it. I'm a dissapoint as an Atlus fan. :[

Wish we just had a generic thread to post our current party.
Right now I have
Prince/Hoplite
Zodiac/Arbalist/Ninja
Will move the Arbalist to the front for Front Mortar and grab a Monk after retiring.
Tried the Warrior's Might setup on my last file and did not like it at all. RNG hates me and my Shogun was not setting off the attacks often enough. Same deal when I tried a Pincushion Gladiator. Get a constant string of single attacks -> ragequit to 3DS menu.
