Re: EOIII Rantage!
^ I didn't think about rows. Is the row penalty a function of the weapon, that ignores the used skill, then?

Re: EOIII Rantage!
For most of them, I believe. Things like Long Stride and Front Mortar have special damage functions that consider row on them, so those would hold.
In case of implosion, look directly at implosion.

Re: EOIII Rantage!
Say what you may, early game Venomflies will carry your team.
Go for fast Insect level 10, and from there you may as well just improve the mastery so it is more effective against resistances. By the time the poison stops killing basically everything, the Wildling is ripe for retirement and you can either grab a different class or switch to a different summon.

Re: EOIII Rantage!
I have not. It would certainly be great early on paired with Otori. Not a whole lot of elemental damage to worry about.

Re: EOIII Rantage!
Really liking my party right now.
Buccaneer/Gladiator + Monk/Princess
Wildling/Hoplite + Zodiac/Gladiator + Ninja/Zodiac
It was kind of a "what if" into a "whoa" sort of experience. Essentially for simple encounters the Wildling can constantly chuck cows at the enemy while Meteors rain from above. Cow gets 2-5 hits in, and another hit in the second turn before another cow is summoned or it is recalled. Interestingly enough, if you Dark Ether the summoning, you can still recall the best to gain the TP you had never used.
The Hoplite subclass was an idea I had in my mind and it worked out very well. Otori and beast Sacrifice is not reliable for all boss encounters, so it is nice to be able to fall back on Bodyguard. The Wildling is honestly not all too fragile, anyway. Can swap positions with the Monk if I do not feel easy about something.
Since the Wildling rarely gets to just attack things, I have been focusing more on stat-boosting weapons to get the most out of my cow. The whole Lion things sounds great in theory, but it does not really work well in practice. Maybe if it counter-attacked immediately upon being awakened. What just happens is the Lion is lucky to get off an attack every three turns despite being the highest-value target. Too slow for regular encounters and so-so for some of the FOE encounters. I am sure Lions are great for boss battles, but the cow does just fine.

Re: EOIII Rantage!
The thing is, the Monk is likely to get the refresh off after enemies have struck it anyway.
Turn 1: Lion is summoned likely after everyone has acted
Turn 2: Enemy strikes Lion or it is awoken forcibly
Turn 3: It finally attacks and goes back to sleep
It is likely that the enemies will attack it before it attacks and goes to sleep.

Re: EOIII Rantage!
Does that bugged Princess skill (Knight-something?) work on the extra slot if you put it at the front, or only on a normal front slot? If it only makes beasts go last anyway, it wouldn't make a difference.

Re: EOIII Rantage!
Beast damage really does not seem to scale up well with the game. May as well be a Venomfly. At the very least, if you do not mind losing that potential Bushin slot, any of the high/top tier beasts in combination with a Wildling/Hoplite will make for a suitable tank. Sometimes I take on something I really should not be fighting yet, but with Dark Ether + resummon, I can keep throwing out cows with full health.
In that sense, the Lion is not so bad because at least it actually hurts. Maybe I should keep the cow for regular battles for that handy paralysis, and go with a lion for key battles. You sort of want Sacrifice for the cow anyways so it is not that huge of a skill investment.

Re: EOIII Rantage!
Why is the battle music for the first and second stratum so much better than the rest of the game?

I dunno, I sort of liked it. It never really got old.
