I believe you can still swap their positions, although you can't control the beast itself. Also, see Ninja's Otori skill.
Hmm.. Wildling/Ninja sounds like it so shouldn't work but that would make an interesting "one" man team....I wonder how Bunshin interacts with Wild Pact...

Essentially Call Insect, Ooze, Snake, Bird, Mole, and Owl only rely on their status effects/binds, so its not too important for them to be in the front. But Tiger, Cow, Elephant, Lion and Tiger (Especially Tiger and Lion) should get the front if they can.

Nature Pact won't save any of the N/Ws or W/Ns if there is more than one (Via Bushin. If you have two sepearte Wildlings then you're totally good to go.) If one Dies from a party-attack then the beast will still have a chance protect the other one, supposing the team is built to where the beast is hit after one of the wildlings die.
Essentially, Bushin is useless on Wildlings, Double duty on debuffs is pointless and you eat up Party Space if you plan on using summons.
N/W makes beast spamable but much less powerful (Useful with the binders)
W/N isn't really too good: Kagerou, Otori, and Karuwaza and its pre-requisites have uses though.

hey.
did this site went down for a while? cause last time i checked i can't access this site.
I was wondering how much of a defense boost does shield mastery and guardian do, and if it's only physical or even magical defense.
also, what stat affects your char's magical defense.
after learning how awesome bodyguard was, i had the idea to put my H in the back and my A in front instead for a bodyguard and front mortar combo (not sure if i'll go through with this though).
then i'll subclass my G with H to get shield mastery and parry/m.parry if i have enough skill pts.
the 4th member would be a monk, and for the fifth, i'm still deciding if i'll have a N/P at the back or another H for more added defensive support (anti-element skill and line guard).
uh, that's quite a bit of a rant, but what i'm really interested is to know about those defensive masteries.
...
what the heck, may i also request the effectiveness of the other weapon's masteries. is it still like the previous games where at level ten it'll have 110% damage output

Archaic Mage missed a payment, but that's been resolved now.
TEC affects your magical defense (Like the Special Stat in the original Pokémon games if you think about it.), and resistance to the elements can also appear on armor pieces. I don't know if anything else participates in Magic Defense.
As for the mastery: All Weapon and Magic Mastery will do 111% damage when said passive is max.
Ether Mastery makes FIRE VOLT and ICE attacks do 25% more damage, Endless Battle does the same for BASH SLASH and PIERCE.
Shield mastery is your typical 10% boost, exactly like EO2.
Guardian grants a 40% boost to your physical defense against physical attacks.

Liferake, Wolkenritter, Katt, thanks for the infos.
I have a question about exp.
I recently rested one of my main characters, and to quickly regain those five levels, I repeatedly did sea quests with him alone.
The fastest in terms of exp gain is the first sea boss, which gives 1.9k exp. but hitting him a few times.
But I noticed that the only exp the character receives is only 1000.
Why is that?
edit:
nvm, just found out that even the guest takes his/her share of the exp.
damn npc guest cr*p

I hate the NPCs as well. They make the last three Sea Quest bosses more difficult than they should be.
