Re: EOIII Questions thread
I use this site for all my number questions: http://kumicyou.sakura.ne.jp/sq3/
(I, uh, use Google translate.)
Unfortunately, it does not tell me the advantage to increasing the Arms spells. Any one know? The game says it increases resistance, but I am hesitant to trust that, given that the base version says nothing about increasing resistance.

Re: EOIII Questions thread
How many times did you attack? The percents we gave may be within experimental error.
Re: EOIII Questions thread
Oh hey, there IS an error in my data. I just experimented again and low and behold I got the regular damage values wrong, but everything else was about right.

Re: EOIII Questions thread
Is there any accurate way to predict who to use Bodyguard on, or is it just a case of "I really don't want this person to be hurt this turn"?
Also, does anything other than Provoke/Otori/Play Possum increase or decrease the chance of being targeted? (HP, DEF, position, etc.)

Re: EOIII Questions thread
ill throw my hat in by saying that the center of a row also has a higher chance of being targeted- having a party of 5 farmers, my middle farmer was hit 1st every single time everyone was at full health, with the regular small occurance of someone in the back row getting hit, but! Only the center farmer ever got hit in the front row when they were all full, out of several hundred fights! I'm sure it had to happen at some point in time, but after noticing it many fights in, i tracked it over a hundred fights, and sure enough.... (it might also have something to do with their luck stats, too though)
Re: EOIII Questions thread
I tend to use Bodyguard to keep certain characters (usually monks or characters with low HP I need alive) from dieing on a turn in which an enemy conducts a physical Party-hit or Random-hit attack. This typically means during some of the later bosses I would bodyguard the Monk EVERY SINGLE TURN except for the turns I know they do differently, in which I pull up an Anti or use provoke. I also don't bodyguard the monk if I know they can take the hit (or if Provoke is up on my Y/H, I won't bodyguard Random-Hit attacks. Having a boatload of both HP and Defense I know it'll hold up and get a medica 4 or full heal next turn).

Oh, sweet, thanks.
I really need to take better notes of what enemies do in battle. =/

Re: EOIII Questions thread
I haven't actually wiped yet... or fought any bosses. Hell, I don't think I've had anyone die since the first part of Floor 2. Maybe if I don't try so hard to not-die I'll actually learn more.
Oh! Question: other than seeing that an attack deals more damage, is there a way to know that an enemy is weak to the damage type you are dealing?
