One of them dies no matter what you do. Any you never see them again regardless anyway. The only way to not have either of them die is to avoid the triggers altogether.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]The text isn't exactly "HEY SHE'S A DEAD BODY" but the dialogue is very much indicative of that (saying that her father died doing the exact same thing that she just did, for instance).
Agata dies if you don't listen to Hypatia and go ahead and tell him. I went that route in the JP version so I decided she gets to die this time. Which is unfortunate as I find her portrait awesome and Agata's fucking lame as hell.[/spoiler]
