Re: EOIV Rantage!!
But if I move my Dancer to back row then her dances are wasted, aren't they? Her dances are all line driven so it would just be her and and an Arcanist that would receive the benefit of her dances (like Attack boost). As for Sniper - I was seriously unimpressed with them the last time I played. Their damage was just shit and they weren't very durable in my opinion to make them worth the effort. Post game felt like all I was doing was wasting Revive on her.

8D wowowowowowowow!
You could always make another Dancer for that row. Though that might have been just me.

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
The front row is great as-is, either use an S/A or R/B (R/I works too) in the back. Sniper's Eagle Eye is more potent than most debuffs (a physical version of I's Hawkeye, 35% defense debuff, about as good as attack tango) and it can use Arc debuffs too I guess in spare turns to free the A/R's turns. Whilst generally trying to bind. If you don't want a Sniper, then you just go for damage from an R.
Or you can do S/B and use Squall Volley for offense, which really isn't half-bad damage, but compared to your I/B and N/I it might be kinda lackluster (at least you'd still have Eagle Eye). I'm not sure how the damage compares, but in endgame Squall Volley gets a bit overshadowed, especially against the better damage setups to use.
Arc doesn't really have TP skills for the RM to benefit from, only TP Boost; Imperial gives it Absorber -and- Finisher for TP along with Element Boost for a little damage increase. Bushi gives it Blood Surge for a -lot- of damage increase and a free revival with Endure, which is pretty nice on super-squish RMs.

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
Oh wow, I was trying to think of "classes that function in the back... huh... you already have M, A, an R sub for runes..." and forgot that Fortress still works there.
You don't get Guard Mastery or their Enlightenment for TP regen, but you DO get half-damage from the shielding skills, so it totally works out. D is a great sub for Fort just because of Fan Dance so in this case that can give you access to Refresh/Freedom Waltz on -both- rows. Guard Tango is good for the Fort to use as well if you aren't worried about party shielding elemental attacks, and this would make it easier to Quick Step the Arcanist for quickly disabling enemies if desired.
I ran a back row Fort in my first party. You have to keep their TP in mind in longer fights, but it totally works. Actually, before you get your imperial, and if you switched the D and A's subclasses, you'd be using what my first party was! (Assuming you decided on a fort in the back) (I'm not actually suggesting subclass switch but it's a neat coincidence)

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
I'm thinking more for post game here with the dragons. I was thinking yes on the elemental shields. In desperate situations I could even row switch my Dancer and Fortress. Hrrrm... x_x so many choices!

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
Arcanists unlocked. ...
Farewell my Runemaster... until I get subclasses anyways and can get rid of my healer. Then you will make your grand return.
Thought about just using Wufan for the sake of not having to level up but... :3 to miss out on choosing the portrait and the name? Hell no!

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
And then I get to the next labyrinth and remember it's very elemental based... I think I might bring my Runemaster back until I unlock subclasses and THEN bring in my Arcanist.

The 6th stratum...oi vey. Everything that I hate about enemies in EO IV all rolled up into one (literal) bloody mess.

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
To be honest, I'm glad the enemies in the 6th strata actually pose a threat. In EO3 the enemies there were so easy, you could just hit auto-attack on anything. EO2's enemies were almost on the same level as well.
That said, binds and ailments wreck these guys. Poison Throw can take most enemies out in 1 or 2 turns. Head Bind or Confuse will stop Red Lions, Hollow Magi and Muskoids from using their most dangerous skills. So having a Nightseeker and/or Arcanist around makes this place a million times easier.
If you're willing to spoil yourself, I've talked about the 6th strata boss here:

He's not really that tough if you weaken him with the chemicals. Without them though, he's definitely one of the hardest bosses in the series.

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
if you don't mind, i'll just ask a bunch of rhetorical questions here that came up after i derped around on the gamefaqs board for this game?. why on earth are the people on the gamefaqs board so narrow minded about team comps?(i understand synergy, but still.) it seems as though every team that gets posted over there simply gets a trip through the standardisation machine, which basically just says "fuck medics, forts go in the back and runes up front. subclass the way everyone else does or go home, and don't forget to make sure that all your team is supposed to be is efficient instead of fun?"
feel free to kill me now for going against the popular opinion, but i just felt the need to say this.

Re: EOIV Rantage!!
sorry for the double post, but the stupidest thing just happened. I was going through the valley spring, and as i was almost done with the furyhorn, my nightseeker (who was panicked, sadly), decided to go full hara-kiri. he literally killed himself in a state of panic. damn you Victor! Y U ALWAYS DIE?
