I was gonna ask, don't people try to escape reality with fantasy games? I think putting stuff at a school setting somewhat hinders the goal. But I could be wrong though; I think at least two or three of my favorite anime are set in schools (Princess Tutu, Ookami-San and the Seven Companions, Magic User's Club, Ouran maybe...) still, animu tends to be different from games; I don't recall any of my favorite video game characters cramming for a quiz before they defeat the likes of , , , , , and . If anyone wants to tell me otherwise, please do! Especially since Harvest Moon...

Though a J-Pop opening would be weird... Especially after listening the song after a while and hating it. Yeah...

School is probably the most common setting for Japanese anime/games ever.

You know, since high school is likely the last time to do whatever before they enter the real world and work in a cubicle until they die =/

Wizardry was extremely popular in Japan and inspired many JRPG defining titles like Dragon Quest (which later branched off from there and became it's own type of RPG genre), and even later got Japanese-created spinoffs created by different developers under the Wizardry name.

Then I'm not sure what to say. You're playing the series for all the wrong reasons.

Because EO doesn't have any fanservice. If he's playing EO for the fanservice, you'd have to try VERY hard to squeeze out what few drops you may find throughout the series (i.e. character portraits).

EOIII introduced a lot of fanservice. Enough for me to anticipate more. Of course, I like the first game for what it is, but fanservice adds more fun to the experience. And I certainly wouldn't have wanted to even look at the first game, yet alone play it, if it wasn't for the cute girls on the cover :3

Just imagine Ren and Tlachtga being ugly muscle packed guys instead of cute girls... it would have just ruined the entire atmosphere.. for me at least. Etrian Odyssey without the fanservice just wouldn't be any fun if you ask me.

Just realize that my understanding of fanservice is somewhat different from Wikipedia's explanation (actually I messed it up with another concept, and when I saw its Chinese corresponding term, I was like "Orz"), so yup, no fanservice (at least that type on Wikipedia) in the deadly Labyrinth please.

I'd hate for this new EO game to have to be absolute perfection and have some of you eat the words you've already typed... we know as much about this game as we do about ourselves so keep cool guys. I'm pretty sure we'll all be surprised when future news hits. There's enough trouble online as it is and I'd hate to see this site go to Hell just because some people don't like a certain idea or imagine an idea on their own and then rant about it.

This box is neatly wrapped so nothing else can go in it. Its contents have already been decided. We'll all just have to wait and see until the day we can open it.

If the game has animated cutscenes or still shots during events, then I'm pretty sure (sadly) a few panty shots are inevitable.

We should make a bingo, make Zeta play SSQ in japanese (or more people if you have a japanese 3DS) and tick everything we mentioned so far. :V

I just don't get what everyone has against fanservice these days... it's a service to the fans. It's what we are supposed to want and Etrian Odyssey had it's fair share of fanservice already. I mean.. just look at the dark hunters or the delicious stockings of the female medic. But somehow most players tend to ignore all that, even going so far to pretend every character of the games is of age. Something that's not even supported by the official site.



Etrian Odyssey used fanservice from the very beginning and concerning the possibility of pantyshots people seem so worried about.. I don't think those female hexers even wear any pantsu to begin with :3
