Re: EO Untold Rantage!
I just wish there was a mode that had death like the original EOs, where you have to re-load a save, and there weren't super-overpowered monsters. I mean, they're probably alright if you build right, but getting one-shotted by a boss every 4 turns is not fun (for me at least)

Re: EO Untold Rantage!
Maybe I mis-worded that.
Picnic mode gives you infinite restarts, and items like Ariadne thread never run out
Standard mode gives you pretty much the standard difficulty, but if you die, you get one restart, and then the save is lost.
Expert mode, you get no restarts, and enemy difficulty is buffed up.
I was hoping for a combination of Standard and Expert :/

Ralis - I don't know about other strata yet, but at least on the second stratum I could explore 95% of BF6 before being told to go to Gladsheim first. That (with the associated quests) leveled up my party enough that the Gladsheim FOEs and boss were very doable.
I hear you on the Normal/Expert mode thing. I am an EO veteran, so I don't need the extra life, but the increase in monster levels is just mean.
And I wish we could have the Story without the fixed party makeup too. Protector (defense focus) and Highlander (decent skills cost HP) just aren't my style.

Re: EO Untold Rantage!
Well, I sure ignored this forum for a while. Anyway I'm playing EOU now (Played through the whole game on Expert) and I'm at Sector V of Gladsheim. Hoo boy.
On a side note, I was impressed at how well the music worked in the game. When I listened to the OST by itself (Before I even bought the game) I wasn't that impressed with the remakes and new songs, but now that I've heard them in game I found them a heck of a lot better. EO4's soundtrack was still better though.

I've been wondering for a while, does boosting affect escape chances? It seems to sometimes, but I don't get boost frequently enough to confirm.

Re: EO Untold Rantage!
So I finished up story mode, did a bit of grinding in Gladsheim for stuff, but I basically decided to save sixth stratum for classic mode, so here I am now! Still playing on expert mode; funny how I never realized how tough the first floor of the labyrinth can be without two level 30 bodyguards to protect you, heh.
My party is this, for now:
Dark Hunter/Ronin
Troubadour/Hexer/Alchemist
I'm going to put tons of points into Formula Mastery, just cause I want to test how viable the front row Alchemist is gonna be, which is where he'll end up eventually. I'm already pretty sure it'll be dicey all the way through, but if I can manage to make the damage worth it, it'll be fun. Also so my Ronin's Breath ability will (hopefully) be more worth it.
I just wonder how long this party'll last me. Those elemental attacks from the bosses do a lot of damage...

Re: EO Untold Rantage!
I'm playing on expert and the difficult feels like original EO difficulty to me. I've not been disgusted with it yet or even felt the need or desire to change. :\ Am on Floor 7, though, so we'll see. ^_^ I like that I am given the option to change it. So if I get discouraged later on, I can change, get over my little hissy fit, and enjoy things before resetting the challenge.
