Wahoo! The boss is down! Resting to specialize my Troubadour and Hexer in attack and defense buffs/debuffs really helped, since Crunch was no longer one-shotting every party member I had. Though I also got pretty lucky cause my binds lasted for a longer while than usual. In either case, I can keep moving forward.

Now I get to have fun with all those dragonflies... Ugh.

Sword DHs seem like a clearly inferior option, honestly. Catastrophe does increase ailment success rate on the next turn from what I hear, though, at least, which isn't half bad; and Drain Bite could activate Echoing Rondo, allowing you to use not-elderrevenge.

But Soul Liberator sounds kind of terrible in any situation other than lv15 on a sleeping enemy. At least compared to Ecstasy, which eventually does really high damage even on unbound enemies, without even removing the binds.

I guess after you had a -lot- of points (to max catastrophe+a few status attacks for more reliable success and not being a one-trick pony due to scaling resist, and Liberator when a status is about to wear off so you actually deal damage), a sword DH could be alright... with some luck. But the whip user is a much more reliable option because Viper is a fucking beast until late-game, and as it starts scaling down you get your hands on max ecstasy for beast, and then you add Wrath's Might stacked on grimoire for even more beasting.

Action Boost -> Ecstasy with stacked Wrath's Might is one of the ways to 2-turn the bonus superboss in expert, after all. Without binds. Isn't it sad, sword users?

So something I finally realized but never quite bothered to stick in my mind until now: Ronin have AWFUL TP GROWTH. I realized this while fighting the third stratum boss and used all of his super powerful moves that drained him of TP in like, 5 turns. Which is a problem since he's also basically my healer (Thank you Breath).

Anyway, so long as I'm smart it seems that the boss shouldn't be too bad. Surprisingly the attack buff/defense debuff worked a heck of a lot better than I thought it would, seeing as I recall the boss completely wiping my party with its opening move in Story Mode, whereas with the buffs and debuffs it negated it to a manageable 100 points of damage.

Still, not having status healing is killing me, as I found out when my party was rudely forced asleep in the later phases of the fight. It'll be troublesome for certain, that...

So I am in the third stratum and I'm trying to show everyone around the 12th Stratum. Major problem? Can't get to the big floor or unable to get to floor 3. I am getting awfully ticked. Which hole am I supposed to fall under?! Why are the only stairs down take me to where not a lot of big rooms are?

You see those four holes in 11f near the bottom, lined up? Look at your map of 12f and see which one isn't already mapped underneath.

A Dark Hunter skill. At max, it increases all damage dealt by 40% when under 40% of your Max HP. It stacks, so like the masteries, if you have lv1 or higher of it on the DH's grimoire as well, it increases your damage by... ah, almost double. (196%?) Works with elemental and even non-elemental attacks.

Whip DH is pretty hilarious. (Sword DH is only hilarious when you have a Boost to burn and the enemy is asleep)

Wahoo! Finally beat the third stratum boss, so now, naturally, I'm moving onto the fourth stratum. Just a bit of test fights show me that I'm in for quite the struggle... These monsters really know how to hit hard, haha. I'm certainly not looking towards to floor 18 and on, since that's where you have to start fighting the and all, and they really, really hurt.
