on another note i dunno if the grimoire trading is random or not, but one of mine was a gunner with cover fire 7. so yeah. i have even MORE pointless passive healing.
i will now proceed to feel invincible until my next post where i tell you guys how a fluffy little kitten ate my face off

No I LOVE that effect thing. In EOU I was always forgetting to eat or drink something before I left. And then there were the nasty situations where I would take 3 steps, get killed, and have to go back to town. T-T

I haven't played EO2 before, so EO2U is brand new to me. I'm doing a Classic Expert run first, and my party is:
Front Row- Highlander, Gunner, Medic
Back Row- Hexer, Beast
(I keep Gunner in front to get the buffs from Highlander's abilities)

I'm on the boss of the Auburn Thicket now. I think I need to grind a bit. My party is lvl 27.

Also I am seriously starting to regret my DPS Beast. :/ With bosses and stuff as HP sponge-y as they are, he's just not cutting it. Even if I love kitties.

In an unrelated note, I'm 1 skill point away from unlocking War Revive on my War Magus and guess what shows up in a Grimoire Trade? A Revive Grimoire with 1 point. I could have better spent those points in War Edge Mastery! /sigh

yeah, i just got my happy butt to the 2nd stratum.... i have grinding to do, too.... but not levels....

money.... lots and lots of redevelopment money(is that a spoiler? i mean its greyed out but its right in your face from the get-go...)


that and grimoire farming..... yeah.... farming the RNG CHANCE for it to show up AND the RNG that itll be the skill you want, AND the RNG it's the LEVEL you want....

im not advancing for a few days, am i?

so its been about 2 hours of me holding down the A button looking for 2 specific grimoires.... aaand i only got one of them... at level 2

im debating if i should keep grinding to get it to max (level 5) because its a fairly powerful skill, but requires investment in skills that arent helpful to my group or i are just a bit to awkward to use(for my group as-is).... hmmm

2/5 to save myself the pain? or work hard for that 5/5?

We can level up grimoires? I didn't finish EOU1 but I don't remember that being a thing? Or did I miss something? (because I largely ignored grimoires)

err i dunno. there was synthesis where you could combine a bunch of different skills onto 1 grimoire, but that option is completely gone from the cafe, so doubtful.
it also seems like grimoires are single skill ever. period.

but what i mean is... i had the right grimoire skill drop, but at level 2. since i want (and will need) a level 5 one later as i progress, i'll need to keep grimoire farming until a level 5 one drops or im lucky and they go up for random trade... or do it again when i need it and messing with wasting SP to get the skill and the resting to fix everything... i dont wanna deal with it later...
sorry if i made it sound like i was leveling up a level 2 into a 5. i guess i could have worded that clearer

Ok, maybe I'm REALLY missing what you were saying in your initial post (or I'm just an idiot - you decide) but I'm not understading what you are talking about.

I thought grimoire drops could not exceed the level that you currently have. So if you have Whip Mastery at Level 5 on your Dark Hunter, the grimoire that is randomly created will never exceed Level 5 but it could be 1-5.

It sounds to me that you are trying to get (albeit another skill but I'm using this example) a Level 10 Whip Mastery using a Dark Hunter that only has Level 5 Whip Mastery.

"I don't want a Level 10 Whip Mastery since I have to invest in skills that I don't want to get that. So I'm out here trying to farm for a Level 10 Whip Mastery instead."

After rethinking I suppose an alternate reading could be (and maybe this is it):

"I want a Level 10 Whip Mastery, but don't want to invest the skills, so I'm out here farming for a Level 5 Whip Mastery grimoire so together with my Level 5 and the stone's Level 5 it will equal 10."


... My brain might just be shot. I did way too much writing today.

i want this dang useful skill so i can use my other skills already dangit. seriously... being limited to level 2 mastery AND level 1 attack skills at the start of the second strata? no wonder my damager isnt doing their job
