Well aren't I observant, never thought the art book would be back there. xD
And now my one minor gripe I've had so far is gone, too! Huzzah!
I suppose mostly the reason I was so negative is because I was a bit salty that they were releasing two Untold games before even making another true EO game, but now I'm fine with it. Though if they announce an EOU3 anytime particularly soon then I'm probably gonna be somewhat disappointed.

Grimoires are a good way to boost a skill to the next threshold of power for FOE fighting, and then removed later for exploring to improve TP efficiency.

i gotta say, i really do appreciate the way they "enhanced" the grimoire system. aside from "losing" 5SP, you have up to 6 slots for any single skill at any level. and given how alot of subclassing in the past was mostly used for just a few skills anyway, you basically get all that and more.
i still dont like how GETTING grimoires is done. a chance for it to even happen. a chance for it to even be the right skill... AND the chance for it to even be the right level i feel is a bit much...
but man, when you get the right ones at the right levels, you can do SOOOO much more than subclassing ever could. I actually like that. alot. even if im alone in this.
not to mention what hong said. its any single skill you can choose to have. whenever you want/need. all the levels you save on resting when you want to change your party because a single skill didnt quite work is another thing..

I agree, I really like how the grimoire system was handled, except for HOW you get them. If it's easy to get the ones you want, the game would be much easier, so idk how it could be refined even further. Maybe limit the max level of the grimoire depending on the level of the character if they're easier to get? For example, the highest a lvl40 character could get is a lvl8 grimoire in a skill. That might be a way to improve the system.

I dunno, really. it's hard to think about how tweaking it would effect the balance. i'd like to think for the most part, the game is fair... yet we all know certain specific combinations/skills can just break the game's poor spine...
i dont mean to sound like i dont like the RNG mechanic. thats fine... i just think theres far too MUCH of it. i mean for a mechanic MEANT to supplement my growth/progression, i dont want to leave that aspect up to the lottery every time... especially when im in a position where i might want to/need to farm for a specific grimoire skill. Or, heaven forbid, a Friend wants a specific skill from me because i have a leveled up class/skill they might want
i would like to say have the grimoire type be static (but random) and controllable... same for passive skills. Let enemy skills be wholly random(as they can potentially be hidden gems/wild cards). heck i wouldnt mind if they kept it as-is and gave a way to level up the grimoires you already HAVE... grimoire fusion? i actually dont mind how they have the trading mechanics.. i could see it working fine for that kind of system without ruining too much
i'd just like to have some tiny semblance of control over grimoires with how closely theyre tied to my characters. yknow... other than "i ate this magical chestnut!"
then again this is purely "what if" and "what could have been" rather than the game as it is and what its done to improve the system already, so its probably not suited here, even for the "Rantage" thread

Changed my Highlander into a Protector, and replaced my Hexer with a Sovereign. My team is pretty solid now. Swapping my Gunner probably would be more ideal... but you know I could never do that.
I was considering an elemental nova team at some point, but from testing, the damage just couldn't even compare. Dark Hunters and War Magi have the most ridiculous damage output. Once the EXP bonus DLC comes out I'll probably give it another shot.

I ended up having to bench my Ronin and make a Protector in order to get through the on the second stratum @_@ lv 9 Fire Wall ftw! Also utilizing Fluffernuffs idea of Force Mastery (lv 8 ) on my DH helped me get my gauge up several times during the encounter for heavy Ecstasy dmg!
Finally onto the Third Stratum!

Beat on my first try, but was lucky in doing so. In that, my Beast had done Force Break (unknowingly about what was coming) on the correct turn when decided to suicide bomb me.

Scylla decimated, I love this team's current skill build.

so im starting to question my team. not that i dislike it by any means... but things have gotten.... rediculously easier the moment i swapped a landy into my front row instead of my war magus...
my only real loss was the free healing from Vampire, but im just a few short levels from another grimoire anyway...
my alchemist is simply the best option i have right now in my back row, but he's literally turned into fodder. and by that i mean he's literally the guy throwing out scopes, or second-hand buffs/ debuffs... his damage went from passable to useless, and i cant beef up his skills without running him completely dry..
