Whatchya talkin' bout? My Alchemist is working wonders in my team, don't see how they could be a dead weight.
Anyways in other news I almost beat the 2nd stratum boss, the , but alas, literally DURING his death animation my batteries ran out. Luckily despite this being a major letdown I have a better grasp on when I should be popping Fire Wall instead of doing it every turn and praying it's going to use a fire-based attack. xD
But yeah, my team is doing really quite well. Landy is landing crits quite often, even this early in the game, my Prince is just finally getting into Monarch March territory meaning my HP is going to be generally less of a worry when exploring, Protector is, well, protecting, Gunner is doing some good elemental damage alongside my Alchemist as well as doing other odd jobs thanks to her Grimoire Stones, and my Alchemist is totally an elemental champ, doing upwards of 500+ damage per turn if he's set up correctly, and even more than that if he's got his Force skill on.

yknow, since my experience with story mode is level 10 on floor 3, i guess i didnt get the memo just how insanely fafnir scaled. that shall be noted. i was mainly as looking what their different skills offered (yknow... for NG+ runs) but if that really is the case....
i think i could go with ronin. its not as effective as going gunner for elemental chasing (like my group would absolutely abuse, i realize) but ive done chasing/elemental chasing in literally every party ive ever run... so i was hoping to try a run without it.
that and i didnt want to SPECIALIZE... merely have the ability to do alot of different things... i know its alot of resting, but i like the idea of just taking a step back and simply having my group be able to shift strategies rather than swapping out for an entire new party when things dont work out.
i mean my group can already easily SPECIALIZE for force spam, chasing, ailment core, or even bind lockdown without much issue at all. but at the same time i dont want to have to specialize for a single character... or have a character TO specialize. yes i know EO likes to demand specializing but ive been doing fine with my group.... even if it only feels like i have 4...
thats why i have a hexer but im not devoted to the whole dark hunter/war magi damage core. though war magi's ailing slash tipped me off to try landy.
on that note, landy's ailing slash with force boost (and possibly triple charge) will actually hit harder than not only war magi's ever could, but that ailing slash does more than landy's force BREAK... which i find really stupid
plus i already have a ronin from my original team so i feel a little more... "attached" lets say to trying ronin again.
i'll catch her up and start the 4th stratum.
EDIT: while im on the topic, how would you suggest i mess with highlander? im not sure what direction to take her... if i go all-in on Legion Burst+Allied Bonds/bloody offense for TP generation, her damage on bosses falls off hard. and when i went for Delayed charge+cross charge, i was running into issues with my AoE(dealing with random fights quickly)/TP management...

Grim slots will be pretty choked. You want 20 in Cross Charge, Limitless, Delayed Charge, Spear Mastery, Phys ATK Up, and possibly Spear Assist or Bloody Offense at the end of the day.
Penetrator is not a bad choice, since it boosts the damage of their attacks and stacks with Spear Mastery.

What? Harpuia is actually difficult? What has the world come to?
Granted, I'm extremely underleveled (Level 42), so I'm probably taking more damage than probably expected. Still, she's much a bigger threat than Scylla, who is pretty easy(!!) once you know the pattern.

Made it to the 5th Stratum, I'm loving the new look of it. I get the feeling that I'm going to miss a shortcut or two due to the trollish nature of the first shortcut you come across.
I've come to a roadblock with my Hexer; in that, I am completely undecided as to what to spend my skill points on now (currently sitting on 7). I keep tossing the pros and cons of either Weakening Curse versus Chained Benefit... Or I could just dump the rest of the points into Venom Curse (nearly maxing it out) to pump up the damage of that.
The benefit of Weakning Curse would boil down to having a debuff up on the enemy that lasts 3+ turns. However, the downside is it takes up a debuff slot... Where as, the benefit (and downside) of Chained Benefit is that it acts as a charge skill, but at the very least my War Magus could just utilize Displace to send the binds off the Hexer and onto an enemy. For what it's worth, if I were to go Weakening Curse I would have to spend 4 points into Sapping Curse to get access. Where as, with Chained Benefit, I already have it unlocked, but haven't put a single point into it yet.
Wish the Japanese wiki had values on those two skills.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the game finally recognized that my Beast had paws in one of the 4th Stratum events.

What deity have I offended? A Mandrake ambush is by far the most fearsome thing.

Meanwhile while everyone else is in chaos, i just got this game and am fun having. my team: Protector, Ronin, Dark Hunter in front row, and War magus and Gunner in back row. this is the first time that i've ever ran the risk of not having enough money to rest at the inn. I;m still fanboying over some of the additions (more colors, and the monster book page actually has statuses) and i'm really liking this. Hope to get out of stratum 1 soon!

Is level 40 for a certain 3rd stratum boss overleveled or was said boss kind of a pushover...?
Anywho, Stratum 4, yee. So far my team has taken pretty much everything that's been thrown at them pretty well without grinding, though I have put questing on a higher priority than actually progressing so that might be the cause. My team is doing incredibly well, Monarch March is just as good as I had hoped it would be, I hardly even have to worry about my HP anymore, and the rest of my team is pushing out great damage too (Heck, my Prince is beginning to out damage my Landy in some aspects), so hurrah for that.
Is it just me, though, or is money a bigger problem in this game than it was in previous ones? I feel like even just buying one new weapon or peice of armor takes out at least half my cash at once.
EDIT: Also Stratum 4's music, oeh mae gaed, I can tell that I'm going to end up writing lyrics to it at some point, it's so guuuud.

I feel you on the Ental issue.. I got the conditional for Chimaera and was ecstatic but then I go to Sitoth and they're wanting for it! I'm quite sure that it's only the in the game too so im dreading what the top of the list is going to cost ._.
