So, right now it's looking like we're directly in the path of Hurricane Irene. Very likely I won't be online over the weekend, and if we lose power like when Hurricane Isabel hit it could take a week to regain power.

Wish me luck, guys. Some people are talking about evacuating. I think we're gonna stay put. Even if we get a 7 foot storm surge like they're talking I'm still on the 3rd floor of my building. That and we have nowhere to go.

Ah, see, I was confusing those 'North' states.

Then again, N-America works on a different scale anyway. Two states being near each other could still mean you're several hundred kilometers apart, which is like two countries over.

North Carolina is going to get the worst of the storm. It's due to hit the coast at the OBX and drift northeast along the coast. It'll pass in the ocean near Virginia Beach, so where I live will actually be spared the worst of the wind. "Only" 58-65mph wind. That's Oklahoma on a normal windy day.

Of course trees will still get knocked over and power will go out. C'est la vie!

Just coming in from 3 days of PAX. Tired as all hell. This is the 6th year running that I have attended, and I've always had a good time. But fuck. Cons are tiring when you're not 18 anymore. I felt less exhausted when I was sharing a hotel room with 6 people and not going home to my own bed every night.
