Re: Introduce yourself here! Or say farewell!
Hi! I'm Jing (not real name) and I just got here. Love what you have. I've already learned a lot from reading previous posts. So much in fact I'm going to start my game of EOII over. I realize that with what I've just learned from your members that I can do much better. I only got to floor 2 anyway so I'm really not that far.
I just recently bought EOII, EOIII, and the new 3DS one EOIV (Titan something or other lol). I got them all at once because someone whose opinion I trust on game advice told me they were good games. So far I'm having a lot of fun. It's a lot more difficult than Final Fantasy that's for darn sure! Wow!
I'm no stranger to "real" RPG games where character development is largely dependent on the player and not automatic. I like the map making concept. That actually makes it feel like you're exploring something!
I've played many RPGs and I'm an older gamer (34). I've played both videogames and table and dice style RPGS. I also RP with friends which I know isn't quite the same thing. I used to play Exalted by white wolf games which is a table and dice game based on anime tropes. While playing EOII I was reminded a little bit of that system in how you spend points in order to learn skills and change your stats manually with each level up. I think for someone playing this series for the first time that hasn't had that kind of prior experience would probably find this a very difficult game style.
I'm looking forward to seeing what this game universe is all about and so far I like it!

Hi. I picked up EO1-3 during that reprint they had recently. Just finished EO1 and am going to start the second soon. Actually that's mainly why I joined here, to ask some questions about my planned party.

Re: Introduce yourself here! Or say farewell!
Hi, Jing! ^_^ Glad that you are enjoying the games. It's funny because there are quite a few people who wish the games would do away with mapping - which boggles my mind. That's the main selling point of the game for me.
Older gamer? ~_^ You fit right in, then. Most of us here are in that 20+ age group. I'm 28... birthday is in June so I might as well say I'm 29.
And also welcome to Kilgore! Feel free to go through our old posts in the EOII section or you're always free to start your own topic. It's always exciting starting a new EO game and trying to make such an important decision.

Re: Introduce yourself here! Or say farewell!
I'm pretty bad at coming up with usernames so I just use kilgore mostly. There's a recurring character in a lot of Kurt Vonnegut novels named Kilgore Trout, which is where I took the name from. Though I haven't read any of Vonnegut's novels (or much of anything...) in a few years.

Re: Introduce yourself here! Or say farewell!
Welcome to ItL, Jinggo and Kilgore! So many new people
You're 34 eh? I'm still the oldest here (36) then. It's nice to see more people around my age though.
Yes, prior experience with P&P RPGs (or older CRPGs) is probably helpful if you're new to the EO series. Is there a reason you skipped the first game? There was a reprint recently, so if you missed it because it wasn't available, you can get it now. It might be a good idea to start with the first game(s) anyway. Not so much because of story-relatedness (which there isn't), but because the games' mechanics have improved over the series, and you might be annoyed going back to the first game after you've played the third or fourth.
As for Kilgore not being unique, do you have any idea how many people use the name Rebecca online? Or Mark? Or..?
