@Buffy/Angel
BF's a fan of Buffy and we started watching the series through netflix. I think it's what it is and certainly a fun time, but not necessarily because it's good. It's fun. The vampires are ugly, though, so fuck 'em. I like my vamps HOT.
@Twilight
Bella:
I want to bitch-slap some confidence into her. Her entire attitude of being unworthy for Edward gets reeeeally annoying. But generally speaking I was fairly okay with her. Not my favorite heroine ever (that's Haruhi from Ouran) but certainly not the worst (Miaka/Usagi).
Edward:
All my friends who recommended it were like OMFG!EDWARD!OMG and talking about how he was "theirs" and how much in LOVE they were with him. I dunno, maybe it's because I have someone I love, but I didn't really fall for him. I thought he was interesting, and charming, sure, but he's too bossy and overpowering.
And, yeah, his complete lack of description was weird.
Alice:
Love her. She's easily my favorite character. I'm not sure where in the next two you get more info on her, but you do, and it's awesome.
This is actually a spoiler, but a very tiny insignificant one:
If you keep reading the series, you'll get your wish regarding the werewolf legends and triangles and such.
Yay at spoiler 4 XD !! FUCK YEAH at 3!!
Haha, Kino, I like how are opinions are very close to each other.
Bella:
About the only time I could absolutely appreciate Bella was when she was mad. That's when she got sarcastic, witty, and full of ego. I LOVED when she was mad. I think my favorite scene of her was when Edward had stalled traffic to pick up his family - and enjoyed himself while the last guy (what was his name?) tried to ask her to the dance. Her wanting so much to ram the back end of the car. I think another of my favorite quotes from her was something along the lines of "stupid shiny volvo driver!" though I can't remember the context.
Edward:
As for Edward being charmy - he was close. Okay, I'll confess - my whole favorite scene (despite Bella's unrealistic reaction to it all) was the one in Chapter 8's Port Angeles. It wasn't the whole "I saved the damsel in distress". What I loved was his reaction to the boys and his demanding Bella to randomly talk so it would calm him down. THAT totally thrilled me (hehe, Ouran reference - when Haruhi got into some trouble with some boys on a beach - it was the twin's beat 'em up reaction that thrilled me more than Tamaki's 'save the girl'). Personally, I REALLY wanted to see him pelt the living shit out of someone over her.
I was SO disappointed with the end when that didn't happen even to James. I was like NOOOO - CHEATED BY A FUGGIN' BLACK OUT!! DAMMIT BELLA YOU WORTHLESS SHIT!!
I think I'm easily impressed, though. Still... not my perfect hero model. No, Althalus of Redemption of Althalus has that. And... no, another girl can have Edward. I don't want him. A few missing-feisty scenes weren't enough to impress me.
Twilight? I read that, although, it wasn't really THAT great IMHO...it was a bit overhyped...Edward seems a bit TOO perfect. And you don't get as much info on the other vampires, which is sad.
Currently reading 'House of Leaves'. It's really great so far. I don't know why the word 'House' is always in blue. Probably because of a major plot point or something, I don't know.

House of Leaves.... by Dani...cle...sk...w... Dani-something? Matthew, maybe? o_o;
Anyway, think I know what book.
@Twilight
Yeah, definitely overhyped. Some of my coworkers are absolute nutters about it.
Although I just found out I'm scheduled for the midnight release of the 4th book in the series. It's apparently "Prom" themed, which amusing since my friends threw a Prom-themed party earlier in the summer and I wore my fabulous 80s punk reject dress I'd been saving for such an occasion.
Now I get to go thrift store hunting for the most fabulous poofy prom dress I can find, hopefully one that'll fit over my can-can.

Kaining, it's because of the brackets/parenthesis. If you write them directly as "(" or ")" it can mess up the URL. You need to write the HTML code for them, as seen below.
Comes out as: Link
As for books, I'm actually about to start reading King Lear after watching a 70s film adaptation of it which was really very good. I was meant to have read it at college but only read the first act.

So, I have New Moon now. My parents surprised me with it when I was talking about how shitty my day had been. They came home with a book for me. Well, it's not as sweet as all that since I had asked them to pick it up for me the other day but they had forgotten.
>_< I AM NOT! going to read this book in a day and a half this time. I'm going to at least stretch it out over a week.
I hope. Alice isn't going to make this very easy.
New potentially favorite character after reading the birthday scene: Jasper.

@New Moon/Twilight/Jasper:
Oh, Jasper is SUCH love and you have no idea. Alice and Jasper are my two favorite characters. Their story, when you get it, is so sweet and.. yeah.
I'm reading the 4th, Breaking Dawn, here at work. I had to set it aside for a moment 'cause... yeah. I'm trying not to out-pace my friends that are tearing through it.
Oh, and, hell = 200+ Twilight fangirls crammed into my store, not listening to me while I try and herd them into order. Also, running around frantically in pointy little heels and HUGE poofy dress that I keep having to hoist up to move at anything faster than a sedately glide.
But fuck I love wearing poofy dresses.
XD even if ONLY the employees were dressed up. At least it made it easy to spot who was running the show. Got a question? Snag the chick with the magenta hair in the lavendar puff of tulle.
At the end of the night I was exhausted, dehydrated, limping on my feet, but I survived the chaos and we sold over two hundred copies. Success!
I'm assuming we'll sell out today.
