Like Zandrena said. Lucas = Ness with no hat XD

Some fans of the other Earthbound games hated Lucas and preferred Ness. So many took up the saying "Give Lucas a red hat and everyone will be happy".

The joke in the picture is a mixture of that and an event from Chapter 1 in Mother 3:
[spoiler]His Mom dies[/spoiler]
And he's the only one who's unhappy, despite being given a red hat.

I had that ploy. When Lucas was announced for Brawl, there was praise in the east and confusing in the west. So we just labeled him "Zero Hat Ness" to satisfy them. If they said anything about the blonde hair, then we said "Zero Shades Johnny Bravo".
