As long as David Bowie doesn't show up in the book, you'll be fine. ^_^

I don't like "David Bowie". I like "Jarith" :3 Kinda a big difference for me. He's totally hot in the movie and I love his character, but I've never been much of a David Bowie fan outside of the movie, so lately I've been making a distinction for myself XD

^_^ I like the movies because of the unique fantasy stories. That and the beautiful costumes (or muppets XD) <3 NO FUCKING CGI!! I mean, obviously, Willow had the cruddy movie-magic computerizations, but seriously it's just... beautiful... the realism involved. The breathtaking beauty. The attention to detail. *sigh*

<3 How I love it all!

I forget that noodles lives in a land without movie rental stores. How strange to me. Any of those are available for $1 at any video store in my area to rent for 5-7 days.

I never watched any those movies either as a child. I watched them only in my 20s at the instance of my friends. I humbly submit that I found them rather silly and dull, but this is what happens when you try to watch someone else's childhood classics in adulthood.

Also I'm just not a great fan of movies and movie watching in general. I read and played outside too much as a child to have had many movie watching experiences.

I grew up with movies and books everywhere, and was destined to be a geek. But then, when one's parents meet at a Star Trek convention, I imagine it is almost in the blood. :D

In any case, I had a surge of inspiration myself, writing chapters 4-6 of my most recent concept, Dearly Beloved.

Here's the first chapter:
Romance

Jel pushed her face up to meet his. They kissed without a sound, and only she had care.

Well; maybe he cared, but it was irrelevant following the crunch that signalled his spine breaking in at least two places. His body crumpled in the same manner that his resolve had done merely moments ago.

She crooked a little smile, pleased at her little defiance. There might be a reprimand involved, but she thought it was worth it. In fact, sometimes it was hard to see just why their father bothered. Surely he knew another sixty lashes or so would hardly rend her appearance, much as it was, in any shape or form, though she guessed that some of her more vain sisters might take the thought with a balk of unkind horror.

Jel stared at her watch. It was the only thing she was still wearing; and she suddenly felt embarrassed, so she stripped the dead man of the remains of his suit and dressed herself in it, keeping an eye on the time whilst she did so. She pursed her lips and tutted when she noticed the wedding ring casually left in the shirt pocket.

“Like you can really judge!” The voice was exasperated and seemed to flow out of the air, behind her in the darkness of the dingy alleyway let obtusely by neon lighting. She spun around to meet it.

“Oh… you’re late, Death. Though I can’t blame you. I tried really hard on this one. About two and a half minutes, this time, and I think that’s a new record!” Jel replied, tapping her little red watch and addressing the darkness that had steadily pooled into a flowing robe populated by a gaunt looking girl whom looked as though she had fallen out of a gothic fashion magazine.

“Don’t call me Death in public.” Was the spectres taught response.

“Fine, fine… Grendel.”

Death’s brows twitched slightly. Despite popular belief, the final undertaker was not actually a skeleton.

“Oh, that’s right… Rima, sorry. I always forget.” Jel corrected herself, showing an expression of triumph.
In fact, Grendel Rima Scythia was kind of attractive, if that sort of pallid, ebony hair on ivory skin thing floated your boat.

Death, Rima, took a large sigh at the obvious insult, but ignored it, and suddenly blurred in an instant of hyper movement, placing her by the body. Jel didn’t see her draw her handheld sickle, but it crossed the emerging ghost in a single clean line, beheading it in a gory shower of ectoplasm.

Jel clapped lightly, receiving a glare from Rima.

“Now, now, you’d be out of work if not for me.” She retorted to the black shadowy girl.

The glare carefully turned into a silent, haughty appraisal, but no further words emerged. Jel supposed she was fortunate to hear Rima talk at all. She was, after all, the strong silent type. Death swished her cloak of inky blackness and turned to leave.

“Thanks as always. Good to see the diet going so well, dear!”

The black fog dispersed in the manner of an angry swarm of bees, and Jel was once again left in the company of the dead, naked businessman.

The gooey ectoplasm evaporated promptly, leaving a stench of shunned promises and wasted potential.

What a detestable soul! She thought to herself, shuddering at her remembrance of the sexual encounter just a few minutes previous.

“Back where it belongs”, she said.

Content with that thought, Jel adjusted her wings, scratched herself, and left the alleyway in the ill-fitting suit.
I'm not entirely certain about it, but eh...its been awhile since I tried doing some fiction, especially contemporary fantasy.

EDIT: Sorry, should probably clarify. This is a book of lots of small chapters that hop between the perspectives of the three protagonists. My stupid challenge to myself when I started it was 'take exactly two pages [in Word] per chapter.', but interestingly, I've actually kept to this stricture, so far.

well, though I live in a land where everyone uses Netflix or Movies On Demand (and we got Redbox last year, and blockbuster has a similar service now), we USED to have video stores, and I used to go to one every week. I SAW those movies, but never got them. I'd always go for stuff I'd already seen a million times >_< like the Land Before Time series. My parents for whatever reason would rather blow hundreds of dollars on me renting the same thing every week than actually buy it for me.

Many things about the kitsune is mercurial, from their moods to their treatment of humans, to even the abilities some possess. Kitsune have a depth of personality as deep or even deeper than those of other Japanese characters. The reason for this, according to one source, is that the kitsune is the Trickster, in Japanese culture. They are there to teach those around them lessons.
