Re: General Writing
Eh, I'm hoping to get some writing going on before the summer ends.
Probably do some simple things before I try delving into large scale.
Being hypocritical here since I never read anyone else's work (I'm just never in the mood nor do I consider myself good enough), did anyone ever read that short story I posted a while back? I remember the conversation turning towards Max having virus problems with DeviantArt.

@SirthOsiris - I don't recall seeing that... but then, sometimes my attendance here is spotty at best. Would you mind providing a link?

Re: General Writing
I'm having an awful time deciding on names. :/
I need to start keeping a small notebook with nothing but name ideas.

Re: General Writing
That's odd? I remember reading this and thought I had commented somewhere to poke fun that you had used names from VNs. But it's been a while and to make it up to you I will reread it.
Never meant to put you out in anyway.

Re: General Writing
I certainly have a long way to go, but it's good to see that I've also come a long way. Four months ago, I would never have guessed that by now I'd have a decent outline and the first chapter of a novel completed. Not to mention what I think is an okay-at-this-point plan for establishing a writing career.
It's intimidating to think about, but who knows where I'll be in another few months?
EDIT: Incidentally--
BAAAAHHHH does anyone else become riddled with anxiety when trying to decide on the flow of their next chapter?

Re: General Writing
You and Maxine are too organized
or rather, I'm too disorganized. I can't ever decide if I want to fix that, or just roll with it.

Re: General Writing
^_^; You THINK that I'm organized but... probably not as much as I would wish I would be.
My character sheets are probably about the most organized thing you can get out of me. I DO do outlines... but most often they are just scribble notes - the way an artist sketches.
On paper (because I like the personalized feel of pencil on paper still) I write out the general events. Like this: This has to happen and this has to happen but why does this have to happen, oh I discovered a plothole! so this has to happen, but what if that happens instead? If you peer through my notebook's story section you'll see that some sheets are written (well I don't have neat handwriting but...) neatly in my small handwriting. While some papers are just scribbled across in haphazard, barely-readable fashion - probably with big letters... my handwriting gets larger when I'm hurried (I'm so weird).
More than outlines it's really just bulletpoints (note: I created this post and THEN read Jubelon's post above... heh, sounds like me and you have the same style!). After I've thought events through on those sheets of paper I write out the main ideas. I never write in the actual scene or anything like that. When I write I write with a check list. I have my bullet points nearby and I write the chapter then go back and make sure that I hit everything that I needed to - if I didn't, I'll either A) scrap and rewrite B) edit and fit it in somewhere and do some rearranging if necessary or C) re-do the bullet points of the next chapters to see if I can't place it in with them
I would NEVER take away the fun of writing-on-the-fly. :3 I never know how a chapter is really, truly going to come out. Most of my TLQ chapters these days are set in stone. I know the events and when I write I'm just going off of memory and trying to write it better than I did before. Most of my on-the-fly writing is trying to insert patches. I found plotholes as I was writing the previous edition, so I'm inserting the patches as necessary. A few events are changing here and there. Chapter 7 has me worried since in trying to insert a patch I've taken away one character's "reason for acting". o_O; I-I-I think I know how to get him to act the way I want, b-b-but Amar is such a bloody stubborn bastard anyways!!
Think when I reach that section of the story I'm going to write a short story where Amar just fucking kills Maxine so he'll be satisfied and the two of us can move on. >_< I can almost imagine the little prick smirking at me. T-T OBEY ME, DAMMIT!! DO WHAT I TELL YOU TO DO, ALREADY!! Heh, OBEY ME OR YOU CAT GETS IT, WARLOCK!! I'LL WRITE HER OUT OF THE STORY, JUST SEE IF I DON'T!!
And Kino @ your disorganization: if you are writing a story and you are happy with it, then "roll with it". Every person is unique and every writer has different methods. I remember being a kid thinking "... I don't need story notes! HAH!" ... Now I see how invaluable they are because for me there are just so many details. Scenes from chapter 4 affectiong chapter 10... notes as simple as bullet points just help me keep track of it all.
